3... 2... 1...

So, I've got these lens-shaped pieces of soft plastic stuck to my eyeballs. They're weird, but not unpleasant.

I haven't seen myself without either a) glasses or b) an astigmatism in about 13 years - half of my lifetime. I look different. With glasses, I've always thought I looked like someone else - not Mike. Without them, my astigmatism made me look like a soft-focus senior photo.

Now when I look in the mirror I see me, zits and all. I'm happy about that.

At least, as long as both eyes are clear at once. One eye or the other keeps swivling out of focus for a few seconds. It's analogous to getting used to a new glasses prescription - something I haven't done in 3 years - right now, the left seems to be consistantly more in focus, but for the most part I can see as well stereoscopically with these as I can with my glasses.

So, now you'll know what looks different about me.
